I really enjoy getting to know patients and learning about their lives during visits. Our conversations create a bond, and I appreciate being part of each person’s life. My job is to treat and prevent gum disease and to educate patients about the importance of caring for their oral health.
I started working in the field in 2006 as a dental assistant, then studied dental hygiene at Thomas Nelson Community College and joined Dr. Bates and our team in 2013. I love being part of a team that helps our patients and supports each other.
When I’m not working, I can often be found on the beach or somewhere on the water. I grew up in Chesterfield, and was always passionate about dentistry. I love learning about oral healthcare topics!
I enjoy the relationships that develop with patients and like being part of a team that helps people develop healthier, happier smiles. As a hygienist, my job entails not only cleaning and caring for patients’ teeth, but educating them about the role oral hygiene plays in their dental, physical, and nutritional health.
I’ve worked in the dental field since 1977, starting as a dental assistant and then completing a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene. I’ve been lucky to work with Dr. Bates and this great team since 2000!
Outside of work, I like to spend time socializing with friends and family. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have two grown children.
I experience a wonderful feeling when I know that I have truly helped someone improve his or her dental health and life. I perform gum therapy for patients, as well as educate them about their mouth and how to improve their dental health. Seeing a person develop better homecare, and a healthier smile, makes me happy!
My career started in 1995, when I completed my Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene. I started working for Dr. Bates in 1999 and love being part of a team that collaborates and works together for the greater good of our patients. We share the same values and want only the best for those in our care.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, and crafting, as well as time with my husband Anthony and three children.
I like knowing we’re making a difference in a patient’s smile, whether that’s a cosmetic change or restorative. It’s a good feeling to see a healthier smile at the end of a procedure! I assist Dr. Bates with different dental treatments while supporting our patient. I am also in charge of the lab and making sure all lab work is done and ready for patients.
I did an internship here in 2016 while finishing the program at Chesterfield Technical Center, and never left! We’re a big, warm family that cares about our patients.
Front Desk and Dental Assistant
I love working with our patients and getting to know them and their families during visits. I wear two hats in the office: sometimes I’m at the front desk: scheduling appointments and handling interactions with insurance companies. I also work in the clinical operatories, to assist Dr. Bates and my teammates.
I’ve been with the practice since 1993, am a nationally registered dental assistant. I started working in the field in 1988. It’s a great experience to be part of a team that feels like family and that truly helps people be happier and healthier!
Much of my free time is spent with my family. My husband Steve and I have been married since 1987. I have two children, Brooke and Skylar, as well as two grandchildren. I also have a dog, Mocha.
I love to meet new people and establish a relationship with them. I consider my patients to be my friends and enjoy our time together. As a hygienist, I perform continuing care, offer periodontal therapy, and handle treatment planning. My goal is to have comfortable, informed patients who achieve and maintain great smiles!
I have a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene, started in the field in 1993, and joined Dr. Bates and the team in 2001. We are a big family that cares about each other and our patient family.
My time off often involves shopping, decorating, hosting parties, and traveling. I especially enjoy time with my husband Michael, daughter Hayley, and our dog, Sugar.
I like getting to know our patients and helping each feel at ease with their dental experience. A happy smile at the end of a procedure makes my day! I assist Dr. Bates with numerous clinical procedures, to help patients get and maintain the smile they want.
My experience in the dental field started in 1983 and I joined this practice in 1990. Dr. Bates is a very kind and caring dentist and our team is a group of compassionate people who love helping others.
Outside of work, I enjoy time with family and friends, and I love cooking. My husband Ricky and I have been married for more than 30 years. We have three children and two grandchildren, and are active members of Central Baptist Church.
Office Administrator and Dental Assistant
I like making our patients feel at ease and welcome. I am the first point of contact when patients come through the door. I greet them, check them in, update paperwork, schedule appointments, and answer questions about insurance. When needed, I also help Dr. Bates in the clinic with dental procedures.
I have been part of this practice and team since 2002, after starting in the field in 1996. Dr. Bates is not only a wonderful dentist but also a wonderful person, and my coworkers are truly my other family. I am blessed to work with all of them!
My free time is spent with my husband, son, and daughter, along with our Boxer and our Chihuahua. I love shopping with my daughter and watching my son play football. I also love being at the beach and helping others.
I enjoy doing dentistry and giving people their confidence back by giving them a new smile. I have been with Dr. Bates and the staff for a year after an intership. I assit Dr Bates chairside and I am in charge of sterilization. I am also crossed trained to help with the front desk.
I recently purchased my first home, in Prince George, with my Fiance. In my free time I enjoy going to Virginia Tech sporting events with my fiance. We also have a fur baby named Louie.
